Wisconsin Department of Transportation: I -43 Bridge Reconstruction
June 28, 2010
The following is the work that is scheduled for June 28 - July 1. There will be no construction during the holiday weekend.
- North Bound I-43 left lane closed starting .5 miles south of Green Tree Road to .5 miles north of Brown Deer Road from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am.
- South Bound I-43 left lane closed starting .5 miles north of Brown Deer to .5 miles south of Green Tree Road from 8:00 pm to 5:00 am.

There will be a full North Bound I-43 closure at Silver Spring from 8:00 pm to 9:00 am and a full South Bound I-43 closure at Brown Deer Road from 8:00 pm to 9:00 am.
June 14, 2010
This week will mark the switch over of traffic on the Bridge overpasses. For Brown Deer Road, the newly constructed westbound portion will open, while the eastbound lanes will close for demolition. In addition, off-ramp access will switch to the westbound access ramps. Traffic signals will remain in place to help aid in the flow of traffic. The closure schedule is as follows:
- June 14 - June 17: Full freeway closures will take place between Silver Spring Drive and Brown Deer Road. Traffic will be detoured to use Port Washington Road. This closure will take place between 10:00 pm -5:00 am each evening.
- Beginning Monday, the four (4) southerly on and off ramps at Brown Deer Road will be closing, with the new northern ramps opening for access.

8:00pm - 5:00am Lane 1 NB and SB from Green Tree Road to Brown Deer Road. The contractor right now is planning on only working at Brown Deer Road, but recent daily activity may result in work taking place nightly at Green Tree Road. So it has been included in the closure list for now.

10:00pm-8:00am Lane 1 NB and SB from Green Tree Road to Brown Deer Road. The contractor does not feel that this will be needed, but rather than add it last minute tomorrow afternoon or Friday morning it has put on the schedule and may be eliminated.

Bridge repairs will continue for both Brown Deer Road, as well as Good Hope Road and Green Tree bridges. Below is a breakdown of the construction related closures.
- May 19 - 21: I-43 SB left lane will close starting .5 mile north of Brown Deer Road to .25 mile south of Green Tree Road from 9:00 am -2:00 pm, and again from 8:00 pm - 5:00 am.
- May 19 - 21: I-43 NB left lane will close starting .25 mile south of Green Tree Road to .25 mile north of Brown Deer Road from 9:00 am -2:00 pm, and again from 8:00 pm - 5:00 am.

Bridge repairs will continue for both Brown Deer Road, as well as Good Hope Road and Green Tree bridges. Below is a breakdown of the construction related closures.
- May 10 - 14: A full freeway closure of both NB and SB lanes will take place between Brown Deer Road and the Silver Spring Road, from 10:00 pm - 5:00 am each night.
UPDATE: Due to forecasted weather, the full freeway closure has been cancelled for Monday, May 10. Work will continue as scheduled on Tuesday, May 11. Due to this closure, the freeway will be closed overnight on Friday, May 14 as well.
- May 7: I-43 SB left lane will close starting .5 mile north of Brown Deer Road to .1 mile south of Green Tree Road from 10:00pm - 8:00am.

- March 18: I-43 left lane closure (NB) will occur from .5 mile prior, extending to Brown Deer Road from 8:00 pm - 5:00 am; I-43 left lane closure (NB) will occur from .5 mile prior to, extending .5 mile past Good Hope Road from 8:00 pm - 5:00 am; I-43 right lane closure (SB) will occur from .5 mile prior to, extending .5 mile past Good Hope Road from 8:00 pm - 5:00 am.

While bridge repairs continue on Brown Deer Road, work will begin this week on the Good Hope Road bridge. Residents should expect delays and plan travel accordingly. Below is a breakdown of the upcoming week's closures.
- March 1 - March 4: I-43 NB/SB right lanes will close .5 miles prior to Brown Deer Road off ramp from 8:00 pm -5:00 am;
- March 5: A full freeway closure (NB/SB) will occur at Good Hope Road from 8:00 pm - 9:00 am. Traffic will be rerouted to the offramps and back on to I-43;
- March 6: A full freeway closure (NB/SB) will occur at Good Hope Road from 11:00 pm - 7:00 am. Traffic will be rerouted to the offramps and back on to I-43.

The final process in removing the northern, westbound section of the bridge at Brown Deer Road should be completed this evening. Interstate 43 will again be closed from 10:00 pm - 5:00 tonight, with detours stationed at Good Hope Road and Mequon Road. As always, the work is largely weather dependent. Residents should seek alternate routes if travel is necessary.

Residents should notice the temporary traffic signals that have been installed on the Brown Deer Road bridge. During the duration of the project, these lights will serve as four way intersections to help alleviate traffic congestion.
Demolition of the westbound, northern lanes on Brown Deer Road will begin on Monday, February 22, from 10:00 pm - 5:00 am, and continue on Tuesday at the same time. Interstate 43 will be closed during demolition hours, with detours stationed at Good Hope Road and Mequon Road. Throughout the entirety of construction, traffic on Brown Deer Road will be reduced to one lane in each direction, with a crossover occurring just west of Port Washington Road.
